Like my grandmothers and my mother, I too want my home to be a place where people feel fed. Welcomed, safe, knowing there will always be a seat at the table for them. There will always be someone there to laugh with, or listen. The feeling isn’t tangible, but it’s palpable. THIS is what I want Breaker to feel like. A place where you can come as you are, where your cup will be refilled. A place where you know you ALWAYS have a seat.
So what the heck is happening at Breaker HQ? (aka my kitchen table)…
We’re actively looking for property investors to secure our Flagship Clubhouse. We’ve found a location we believe will be perfect. It’s enough space to have an onsite Early Years Development area for high quality, flexible childcare as well as a clubhouse for our Breaker ladies that will include coworking spaces and offices, as well as lounges, food, coffee, wine, a gym and an area for health and wellness providers to offer services to our members- think mental health experts, PT, hair & nails.
Get a life (or just start with a hobby)
We are told finding a new hobby can be incredibly fulfilling, providing a much-needed break from daily responsibilities and a chance to pursue personal interests. We “should” discover hobbies that enrich our lives and bring joy and relaxation. Whether it's a creative pursuit, a physical activity, or a new skill, there's a hobby out there for everyone!
Sisters
Meet Margot, my sister’s baby, who is already a month old and is absolutely adorable and our youngest Breaker Babe. It is so wonderful to spend time with them both. It is making me so nostalgic for my babies, who are growing up so fast - my son just turned 14, FFS! I don’t know why I can’t remember much of the first year with mine, is it that I have blanked it out as it was so stressful or that it passed by in a blink of the eye and I was so tired? I think it’s a bit of both.

Recently I was listening to a Dirty Mother Pukka podcast from one of my fav duos, Polly Hazelwood and Anna Whitehouse. Anna was talking about how she feels better in her skin at 42 than she did at 24. She says she knows who she is in a way that she hadn’t when she was younger.
You Have Been Lost…
Wow, it has been a long time since I’ve done one of these. Too long. When I lived in Juba, one of the phrases they use that I loved was ‘You are lost’.
Fancy a Ham, Cheese & Pickle Sandwich?
As I am preparing for Sunday and the Mother’s Day lunch I have invited the wider family to (even though I think it’s a ridiculous day - humph) I am reflecting about mothers. I am a mother of children (how did that happen?), I have a mother (obvs), and her mother, my nanny (who is a force, let me tell you) is still the strong matriarch and queen of our family. I am so incredibly lucky. So many to love and be loved by.
The Comparison Game
I’ve really been leaning in to the mom guilt the last few weeks. It’s been paralysing if I’m honest. And just to really commit to my spiral of doom, I’ve thrown myself into a pretty intense round of the comparison game us women play, especially mothers.
Finding Joy Amongst The Mundane
Then I had a moment. And it got me thinking. About those things in life that really make you feel ‘alive’. That give you ‘heart’. With cheeks flushed, smiling and laughing, eyes crinkled and that absolute knowledge that you can take anything on.
Why I Hate New Year’s Resolutions
It’s a new year! A new month, a new start, slate fresh and clean to start over right? I mean, there is a percentage of people who do wholeheartedly feel this way about New Year’s Day who will successfully make resolutions that they will stick to. I commend you. But for me, sweet baby jaysus it’s just an opportunity to highlight how glaringly inept I am at keeping a resolution, in a month I’d rather sleep through, which of course then feels like soul crushing failure.
2023 Round Up:Year In Review
What a year we’ve had here at The Breaker Collective. Since I’ve been in the States catching up with friends and family over the holiday, many have asked me how Breaker is going and I’ve described it as the craziest roller coaster ride you could ever imagine.
We Are All Queens…
No matter your opinions, it is a fact that Madge is not “just” a pop star, she is the definition of an affluent businesswoman, actress, producer, musician, writer, model, journalist, etc. the list goes on. She has even written 5 children’s books.
She also said she finds it “exhausting” balancing her career with parenting and “Whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art and no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes.”
